Airy highs, woody mids and a three-dimensional bloom

“I’ve played most of the big boutique PAF makers – Monty, OX4, ThroBak, Wizz – and in this guitar, these are my favourite.”

The ’58 PAF

What the ’58 sounds like

Airy highs, woody mids and a full, balanced low end, with the clarity and bloom of a good late-’50s PAF.

Neck

Full and woody on single notes, while low chords stay clear rather than turning muddy.

Bridge

Open and punchy, with a sweet top end that cuts through without sounding sharp.

Across the set

The neck and bridge are evenly matched, giving a natural balance when switching between them.

Independent comparison

Compared with original ’58 PAFs

Doug and Pat compare the Olemy ’58 PAFs directly with original PAFs in a 1958 Gibson Les Paul.

“Lots of bloom.”

Construction and specifications

How the ’58 gets its voice

Programmed winding profiles

The ’58 uses a programmed Leesona 102 winding profile for the screw coil, paired with a separate profile based on period slug-coil winding methods. The mild offset between the coils contributes to its open highs, woody mids and harmonic bloom.

Programming the profiles allows the intended coil structure to be repeated accurately from set to set.

Frequently asked questions

Will these fit my guitar?

Olemy PAFs use standard full-size humbucker dimensions and fit most guitars designed for conventional humbuckers.

Because they use vintage-style long-leg baseplates, please contact us before ordering for guitars with unusually shallow pickup routes or non-standard mounting systems.

Are they wax potted?

Olemy PAFs are supplied unpotted, following traditional PAF construction. This retains their open response and sensitivity.

Very high gain, extreme stage volume or standing close to the amplifier can increase the chance of microphonic feedback.

Which wiring should I choose?

Vintage braided:
Traditional single-conductor braided cable for standard humbucker wiring.

4 conductor:
Allows coil splitting, phase switching and series/parallel wiring.

When will my order ship?

The current estimated ship-by date is shown beside the Add to Basket button. Each pickup is built, measured and checked before dispatch.
