Neck
Smooth and expressive, with a sweet top end, vocal mids and added harmonic complexity from the heavy-formvar screw coil.
Tone: Hollow, vocal out-of-phase blues character with woody honk and singing clarity.
Feel: Highly expressive and dynamic, with vocal single-note response and strong touch sensitivity.
Build: Flipped Alnico II neck magnet with a repaired-style Heavy Formvar neck coil.
Precision machine-wound in our UK workshop for repeatable vintage-spec consistency.
A hollow, woody and vocal out-of-phase middle position, with sweet, singing neck and bridge tones when used individually.
Smooth and expressive, with a sweet top end, vocal mids and added harmonic complexity from the heavy-formvar screw coil.
Open and driving, with late-’50s clarity, a touch-sensitive attack and enough midrange weight for singing lead tones.
Hollow, woody and vocal, with the guitar’s volume controls moving the sound from lean and cutting to fuller and more rounded.
The bridge uses a programmed Leesona-style winding profile with a mild offset between the two coils, giving it an open top end, vocal midrange and touch-sensitive late-’50s response.
In the neck pickup, the slug coil is wound with 42 AWG plain-enamel wire, while the screw coil uses heavy-formvar wire with its own controlled winding pattern.
This follows the unusual repaired-pickup construction associated with the original instrument and gives the neck pickup its smooth, open and harmonically complex voice.
The neck Alnico II magnet is reversed relative to the bridge. Each pickup retains a full, singing sound when used alone, while selecting both together creates the distinctive hollow and vocal out-of-phase middle position.
| Specification | Bridge | Neck |
|---|---|---|
| DC resistance | 8.7 kΩ | 8.3 kΩ |
| Inductance | 5.21 H | 4.74 H |
| Capacitance | 4.02 nF | 4.36 nF |
| Magnet | UK sand-cast Alnico II | UK sand-cast Alnico II, reversed polarity |
Typical measurements rather than fixed targets. Inductance and capacitance are measured at 1 kHz. DC resistance varies naturally with temperature.
Olemy PAFs use standard full-size humbucker dimensions and fit most guitars designed for conventional humbuckers.
Because they use vintage-style long-leg baseplates, please contact us before ordering for guitars with unusually shallow pickup routes or non-standard mounting systems.
Olemy PAFs are supplied unpotted, following traditional PAF construction. This retains their open response and sensitivity.
Very high gain, extreme stage volume or standing close to the amplifier can increase the chance of microphonic feedback.
Vintage braided:
Traditional single-conductor braided cable for standard humbucker controls. The characteristic out-of-phase middle position works as intended.
4 conductor:
Allows coil splitting, phase switching and series/parallel wiring. The middle position remains out of phase with standard installation unless the wiring is deliberately changed.
The current estimated ship-by date is shown beside the Add to Basket button. Each pickup is built, measured and checked before dispatch.
